Frequently asked questions about our courses

Below are some FAQs about our CPR classes and other courses. We created this guide to help you determine the best training options for yourself or your group.

Of course, if you have other questions or would like more information about booking your class, just get in touch. We’re here to help and we look forward to talking to you!

Do you offer training for groups?

Yes, and we’ll come to you! We specialize in on-site group training. It’s a feature that has set us apart from other companies for decades.

Where do you provide training courses?

Our primary service area is the St. Louis bi-state region, including St. Charles, Jefferson County, Metro East Illinois, and Southern Illinois. (Select trainings can also be booked outside this area.)

CPR Plus courses are typically done on-site for groups. Since we conduct class at your business or other location, training can be booked at nearly any facility with a conference room or classroom.

Don’t have a group? No problem! We also offer one-on-one training and opportunities for individual students to join group classes.

How do I book a class for my company?

Coordinating a class for your group is simple. Just get in touch with some basic information about your training needs, and then we’ll work with your schedule and location to book a class that’s convenient for your group. Our instructors will travel to your business, set up and break down, provide you with all necessary records, and follow up when it’s time for renewal certification.

How do I register myself for a class?

Contact our office to learn about available class dates, times, and locations, and to choose the option that works best for you. We’ll register you right away over the phone or via email and provide details about your upcoming training.

Need to get certified or re-certified quickly for work? We also offer select one-on-one training sessions for individuals. Contact us today.

Should I do my training in the classroom or online?

While both options cover the same material, classroom and online training offer distinct benefits. We recommend learning more about the different course formats before choosing. To read more about each format and what to expect in your course, check out the detailed descriptions in our classes pages

Is there a class calendar I can view?

No, we ask that you contact us to learn about class options and schedule your training. This helps us ensure we get you the best class to fit your training, certification, and scheduling needs.

Can I take your CPR class for free?

No, all our classes require payment. We teach American Heart Association courses, which include comprehensive hands-on skills training and official, two-year AHA certification for those who pass the course.

If you’re looking for a free community class to learn basic CPR techniques, we recommend contacting your local fire, police, or EMS department.

Are you affiliated with the American Heart Association?

Yes, CPR Plus is proud to be an authorized American Heart Association Community Training Center for the St. Louis bi-state region. All our training courses are developed by the AHA, and student certification cards are issued from the AHA.

Will my certification comply with AHA standards?

Yes, all our courses are developed by the American Heart Association, and we teach every class according to their best-practice standards. If you’re a healthcare professional who needs AHA certification to work, our classes are a perfect fit for you!

Will my company’s training comply with OSHA standards?

Yes, our CPR, AED, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens classes meet or exceed OSHA training standards to ensure your workplace is compliant and employees are ready in case of an emergency.

When will I get my certification card?

We generally issue certification cards the same day as your training. If you do not receive a card that day, it will be issued within 24 hours after you’ve passed the course.

Do you sell AEDs?

Yes, we proudly sell and support AEDs throughout the St. Louis region.

CPR Plus is a sub-distributor of Philips AEDs, and we can supply you with everything you’ll need for a fully-equipped AED unit. This includes the cabinet, emergency response kit, replacement batteries and chest pads, and medical oversight. We’ll even notify you when items are set to expire and then provide replacements.

Contact us for more information and to order your AED.

Do you sell CPR and First Aid products?

Yes, along with AEDs, we sell emergency response items to help you create a safer workplace or community space:

  • First Aid kits, which can be fully customized according to your needs
  • Personal barrier masks, which help ensure protection if performing mouth-to-mouth CPR

Is it true that there are new guidelines for doing CPR?

Yes, the American Heart Association regularly updates best-practice standards for performing CPR and other emergency response skills. This is based on ongoing medical research and consultation from the AHA’s counsel of medical experts.

You may have heard about the change to “hands-only” CPR a few years ago. More on this technique and others can be found at the AHA’s website

CPR Plus always trains students according to the latest guidelines and curriculum developed by the American Heart Association.
